The purpose of the PSIRA security training courses is to equip individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform security functions as a security guard.

These qualifications will enable the learner to perform functions either as a Patrol Security Officer, Access Control Officer or Asset Protection Officer.
AGI provide SASSETA, PFTC and SAPS offering Skills Program in Firearm Training. We offer SAQA and SASSETA accredited Qualifications ranging from:

This Qualification enables the Learner to have legal accreditation to work with or be in possession of a firearm to perform daily duties.
This course form part of NKP Skills program. SAQA ID 246693
The purpose of this learning programme is to provide Security Officer’ with the full understanding of the protection of NKP, it also includes the use of more than one fire arm in a business environment.
It also includes SASSETA based Fire Fighting and First Aid level Unit Standards.

- Security training is important as awareness and understanding improves day-to-day decisions making.

1. You must be 18 years or older
2. You must not have a criminal record of any kind or be under investigation for a crime PSIRA will perform a records check on you during the application process.
3. You need to be a South Africa citizen or be a permanent resident of SA.
4. You must be able to speak and write in English.
PSIRA grades security guards from A – E with grade E the entry-level grading for beginner security guards and grade A the highest grading for supervisory guards.
GRADE E: This is an entry level grade. You will focus on security patrolling.
GRADE D: This is also an entry level grade You will perform security patrolling and access control.
GRADE C: You perform basics of health and safety and proper patrolling.
GRADE B: Basics of Supervision and control.
GRADE A: Basics of Management and PSIRA regulations.
To become a security officer you must complete Grade E, D, C.
To become a control room operator and Supervisor you must complete Grade E, D, C and B
To become a senior manager or Company owner you must have Grades E, D, C, B and A.
The purpose of Grade EDC Security Training is to ensure that new training Officers are introduced professionally in the Private Security Industry, and also know what is expected from them with regard to upholding the Law as Security Officers.
Afetr completion of the 15 day training, the candidate is now a patrol security officer and expected to fully address all the responsibilities and challenges in the work place as per containment in the 31 modules of these grades.
This is a decision that PSIRA made in 2017, it is required to do all three courses as PSIRA has not released new course material that combines these 3 courses.
Each Grade takes one week to complete.
After training with AGI Security, we submits the course report to PSIRA which takes 2 – 3 weeks for processing. Then after which the learner needs to go to the nearest PSIRA branch and follow the application process.
